The XephStratus Backup Service is designed to be an easy to use, simple and reliable on-site backup solution for XephStratus Compute Instances. It performs backups without causing any interruption of running systems, and is seamlessly integrated into the XephStratus Management Console.

XephStratus Backup introduces the concept of a backup slot. A backup slot is the combination of a backup job (the actual backup execution) and the storage space necessary to hold the information backed up. A user just has to select a backup schedule and a retention policy for those backups.
