Domain Name System (DNS) is increasingly becoming necessary when building cloud solutions. However, not all Cloud Computing providers offer a native DNS service. In these cases, the solutions involve using a third party DNS service, with the inconvenience and the expenses to the user charge-back that these patches lead.
The biggest problem comes with the reverse resolution (for example, an IP server in the cloud is resolved in a fully qualified domain name) because the cloud provider is authorized to manage the reverse zone (being owners of the IP address space). If the ability to modify reverse DNS records is not offered, a number of problems can ensue, and this can lead to many of the drawbacks. Concretely, Amazon does not offer forward or rewind capabilities of DNS and anyone who has ever tried to send a mail from an EC2 instance, knows how problematic may be the lack of control in these fields.
Our goal in Vurbia is to offer our customers a full range of powerful services in the cloud based on two fundamental premises: that is simple and that is profitable. Therefore, we are pleased to offer our service's reverse DNS under DNS XephStratus nomenclature.
